As time passes by, the pathological findings of FGS/NgaKist mice was investigated in the kidney from birth through one year. Proteinuria was observed about 45 days after birth, and showed glomerular degenerating changes at 2¡3 months after birth. The experimental data of proteinuria was explained as the degree of one-positive (+) ¡four-positive (++++) by testing with paper strip, and the kidney was shown a light microscopic findings such as the glomerulosclerosis accompanied by mesangial widening, tubular atrophy along with focal dilatation and the interstitial fibrosis. Ultrastructurally, electron dense depobits in the mesangial area, fusion of foot process and vacuolization in the cytoplasm of podocytes were observed, while other organs did not show any other significant morphological changes, These pathological findings are very similar to those of human FGS, consequently the FGS/NgaKist mice will provide a useful animal model for elucidating the mechanism glomerulosclerosis in human.
